Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our Language Arts and Social Justice Magnet School emphasizes the respect of self and others. This encompasses discipline and high expectations as well as activism and compassion. The kids know they will be Agents of Change and follow our school motto, "Be the change you want to see in the world." - Mahatma Ghandi
We are classified as a "highest poverty" school and the kids at our school are brilliant.
They deserve excellent educational resources. Although my kids may lack financial resources, they have an incredible work ethic and desire to learn. We are a full Title I school, a vast majority of our students qualify for free or reduced lunches.
Our students may lack the material privileges that other American children are fortunate to have, but they certainly make up for it with talent, fortitude, and sheer intelligence. We live in a world where our youth are simply not provided with enough quality resources to shine; your donation will make the dream of a bright future come true.
My Project
The supplies will provide my students with what they need to begin their second grade school year. This project will help ease the students' first day jitters and relieve the anxiety of not having the supplies they need. They will now be able to focus on their academic development without the stress of missing supplies or running out of the small amount they do bring. Your donation will comfort my students while providing them with a sense of excitement and motivation as they begin their second grade school year. The donations will help my classroom have more of the resources we need readily available for the students.
Help my students be accountable for their learning.
When students are working on their own at their desk or doing an activity by themselves or a small group. They have no idea how much time has past or how much time they have left. Timers would give them a bit of independence and a chance to learn how to pace themselves. This will also cut down on behaviors (meltdowns, defiance,) when they do not have a warning that something is about to end. Nameplates and name tags will help the students learn their new classmates names. Home-to-School folders will help foster and keep the connection between school and home. Since the folders are clear it is easier to for the student, teacher and parent to make sure notes and work went home or are sent back to school for the teacher to collect.
Only generous donors could help us now to improve our kids' education. My students and I thank you in advance for your generosity and your wish to make a difference in my students' world. Your generous gift will be appreciated by every student in the class.
