As a second grade teacher in a Language Arts and Social Justice Magnet School, my focus is the respect of self and others. This encompasses discipline and ambition as well as activism and compassion. African American students form about 75% of our school alongside with Latin and Asian children. This rich diversity of cultures offers unlimited opportunities to learn tolerance and team work while discovering new perspectives. However, our school and our families can't afford the sources we need to support significant academic knowledge.
