Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are eager builders and makers who love taking things apart and putting them back together. They're curious about how machines work and excited by the challenge of assembling real projects. However, our STEM lab lacks the essential hand tools students need to safely and effectively work with screws and fasteners. To empower my students to build, repair, and create with confidence, I'm hoping to bring a set of screwdrivers into our classroom.

With screwdrivers, my students will be able to assemble robotics kits, construct structures, work on maker projects, and develop independence by completing tasks without adult assistance.

Many of my students have never had the opportunity to use real hand tools. This gap in experience can limit their confidence and their sense of what's possible. When we provide screwdrivers and teach students to use them properly, we're not just teaching a skill. We're opening doors to possibility and building genuine confidence in their ability to create and fix things.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
