My Project

I would like my STEAM Art Students to consider Newton’s 3rd law & Bernoulli's Principle as they create an Egg-O-Copter (egg drop helicopter). Students will create a non-motorized helicopter that can safely transport an egg that will be dropped from 25 feet off the ground. Students will receive a mystery bag of supplies for brainstorming, collaborating and constructing their project.

Students will explore with trial-and-error as they consider how to successfully land cargo from a vertical drop without gliding.

Students will collaborate and test various ideas with their team and be assessed on their ability to design a safety product (protecting the raw egg) and product sustainability.

The STEAM unit will build a stronger foundation for the art program by providing another creative platform for expression. It can help spark students’ creativity and build greater interest in engineering. It will also help differentiate our art students from other local and regional art programs by expanding their awareness of STEAM and the visual arts.

Moreover, enriching our students’ lives with STEAM with more technical experiences provides greater knowledge, and empowers them to implement various techniques to satisfy their artistic expression.
