My students need 2 mini-video cameras and a tripod to help us record our science experiments!

Every great scientist records their findings and observations. My students want to capture their observations LIVE with a video camera.
As urban middle school students in New York City, 6th grade may be the first time they are exposed to real hands-on science.
My population of co-ed 6th and 7th graders are are very curious, budding scientists and enjoy all this subject has to offer. Our school is fortunate to have a science lab, but we are still in need of supplies to make our science lab come alive. The students love being in the lab and enjoy every chance they are offered to go do any type of experiment, even just a virtual one.
The world of science is ever changing. Learning how to take new world technologies and apply them to science is a necessary skill for students to develop. These cameras will serve many purposes for my students. Observation is one of the most important skills of a scientist. Students will use cameras to record observations of their experiments and present their findings in creative ways. Students will enjoy having a method of recording the work being done in class to track project progress throughout the year. When enough resources are not available for all students, teachers can use a camera to record experiments in steps to create video labs. We would also be happy to share our cameras with the other science classes in our school so that they could also enrich their classroom experiences.
It would mean so much to my students to have these cameras.
Science is sometimes a difficult subject to learn unless the students can be motivated. Our world is becoming very technology based, and I feel it is important to use tools familiar to students as a means to promote learning. This is just one of the many ways that my role as a teacher becomes more effective. These cameras will become a part of my goal to inspire my students to hopefully become great scientists!
