Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my community love coming to school. My school site is nestled in the growing community of West Chula Vista. I teach in a low-income neighborhood of hardworking families that want the best for their children. Many of my students do not have help at home, but love to learn at school, and once they leave for the day it is difficult for them to have access to enrichment tools.

Each child in my classroom loves learning, although the method and environment they learn best vary greatly.

We incorporate various learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met right where they are! They are indeed an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners excited and ready to learn each year.

My Project

These materials will bring science to life for my students. Most of these items are hands-on and require exploration!

Students need the visual and hands-on experience and this is exactly what these materials will do for them.

They are engaging and will allow them to explore two main concepts. It is proven that with exploration comes knowledge and questioning and that is exactly what scientist are constantly doing.

My goal is to make science fun and thought provoking, but also to allow collaboration to take place. Science needs to be fun and this is exactly what will happen when students use these items.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
