Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are part of a Great Start Pre-K program in West Michigan. 90% of students in our program are 100-250% below poverty level. Most do not have enough food to eat at the end of their day, much less supplies and opportunities to further their learning.

My Pre-K kids LOVE preschool!

They spend their days at school building, creating, laughing, and learning. But because of our high-risk program, we do not get much classroom funding for supplies, toys, and manipulatives.

My Project

My students love asking questions about the world around them. They love engaging in conversations and activities about weather, germs, the planets, and so much more. Their curiosity is much bigger than our collection of resources and materials.

These materials will allow my students to engage in meaningful play and deeper exploration of the world around them.

They will be able to see real "germs" under the microscope or measure the weather themselves using the track-it-yourself weather kit. Their passion for science will be encouraged through excavation kits and butterfly gardens!

I have seen how much my students love science and I know this project will help them to learn so much more about their world!
