The 4th and 5th grade students will be using them within the next few weeks and the 3rd grade students will begin recorder instruction in January. My students love learning to play the recorder. The YRS-24B Yamaha Soprano recorders have proven to be a wonderful classroom instrument for my students. \r\n\r\nHaving ten of the Nuvo recorders available for use in the music classroom will provide some of my students with a necessary accommodation. Nuvo recorders are designed to make it easier for students to play who are struggling with covering the tone holes completely. They have an adjustable thumb rest and silicone key flaps that help students with small fingers have more success playing the recorder. \r\n\r\nMovement enhances learning by improving engagement, memory, and cognitive function. Using lanyards to allow the students to quickly have access to the recorders will allow them to freely move while participating in music activities. The recorders will be able to hang around their necks and they will be able to go from playing the recorder to moving their arms and hands without having to stop to lay the recorder in a safe space.","fullyFundedDate":1755692126965,"projectUrl":"project/making-melodies-and-moving-musically/9622712/","projectTitle":"Making Melodies and Moving Musically","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nelson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp392913_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1484134210837","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/392913"},{"teacherId":9781610,"projectId":9338033,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our project, The Scribble & Sparkle Station. Your donation has brought a world of excitement, creativity, and confidence to our young learners. Although our students are still in the early stages of developing their fine motor skills, they have been thrilled to explore materials that are often reserved for older children. With your help, we were able to provide them with cardstock paper, metallic and fine-tip markers, and colorful stickers—resources that inspired them to create beautiful and thoughtful writing projects.\r\n\r\nIt was truly heartwarming to see their eyes light up as they carefully formed their letters without the need for tracing, showing growing independence and pride in their work. Working in small groups allowed us to guide them safely and effectively, giving them the freedom to experiment with new materials and take ownership of their creations. This project has not only sparked joy but also laid an important foundation for a love of writing. My students are using the math manipulatives during morning time and while practicing the Social Emotional skill of sharing with others. They loved the opportunity to build and manipulate the materials and were even practiced sharing with one another. We were able to read the Pigeon book, \"The Pigeon has Feelings too!\", and pigeon is one of their favorite characters and incorporating Pigeon into their social emotional learning was very engaging. Being able to use brand new and exciting materials to practice sharing was quite engaging too!\r\nI plan to continue to use the math manipulatives to allow students to create and problem solve. These materials give them a fun opportunity to learn about math and science concepts of problem solving as well as problem solving and sharing with peers. It has been such a joy to see a child who usually struggles during story time listen all the way through while quietly using one.\r\n\r\nThe magnetic monster has sparked so much creativity and teamwork. Students work together to build funny creatures, laughing and encouraging each other as they go. It's amazing to see friendships grow while they create.\r\n\r\nAnd the board games, what a gift they've been! They give us the chance to practice turn-taking, patience, and kindness.
