This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My Pre-Kindergarten students are enthusiastic "college bound" learners! They are intelligent, young students, but the reality is that their socioeconomic statuses and zip codes put them at an academic disadvantage, as compared to their more affluent peers. They are in dire need of having access to quality materials, both inside and outside of the classroom. However, providing them with the supplies necessary to learn in this context is a struggle due to severe budget cuts.
For most of my students, this is their first experience in a structured learning environment.
I want to be able to make their first learning experience hands-on and fun!
My Project
The beginning of the new school has quickly approach! My new group of students will soon be coming to school enthusiastic and ready to learn! As I begin to take inventory of our materials, I realize that we need to re-stock our supply closet in order to be fully prepared to provide the best quality education to our incoming students and families.
What is a Pre-K classroom without scissors and red crayons?!
While setting up our classroom this summer, we realized that our scissors have most definitely seen better days, and we have enough just red crayons for the start of the year. Our scissors are many years old, and are now too hard to open and close for our friends fine motor skills. We would love a new set of class scissors for them so that they can be successful. Now the crayons, we have plenty of every color except red! We need the requested red crayons to replenish throughout the year.
Successfully implementing workstations for small group rotations means we need to be organized. The drawer carts will be used during literacy and math rotations to organize group materials. Other needed rotation materials are ink pads for stamps, rolling pins for play-doh activities, and math pattern blocks and counting chips. The laminating sheets will be used to laminate and create student books, name tags, labels, Family Make-and-Take materials, and much more!
My students are "college bound" learners who need the requested materials to support them in their academic journey. Please help provide my students with the tools needed to be successful learners.
