My Project

We are excited to propose a transformative gardening project for Peter Howell Elementary School, located in Tucson, Arizona. We serve students from a Title 1 district, many of whom benefit from free or reduced lunch programs. Our initiative aims to create an educational garden that not only imparts valuable lessons in food sovereignty and basic plant care but also integrates seamlessly with the school's curriculum, particularly in the areas of math and science. By cultivating this garden, we envision providing an enriching and sustainable learning environment that empowers our students with essential life skills.

The garden will serve as an immersive classroom where students learn about the origins of their food and the importance of eating nutritious foods.

Through hands-on experiences, they will gain practical knowledge of basic plant care, from planting seeds to harvesting crops. This engagement with the natural world will instill a deeper appreciation for the environment and sustainable practices. Our garden program will seamlessly integrate with the school's curriculum, enhancing math and science education. Additionally, the garden will serve as a living laboratory for scientific exploration, allowing students to observe and understand plant life cycles, ecosystems, and the interconnectedness of nature.

To ensure the success of this gardening project, we are seeking funding to acquire essential resources, including gardening tools, seeds, soil, and educational materials. By supporting this gardening project, you are not only contributing to the creation of a vibrant and educational space but also investing in the future of our students. The skills and knowledge they acquire through the garden program will extend beyond the classroom, fostering a sense of environmental responsibility and sustainable practices. We appreciate your consideration and look forward to the opportunity to cultivate a thriving learning environment at Peter Howell Elementary School.
