Every single classroom has an entire set of working headphones for students to use. No longer do we have to ask parents to purchase headphones for their students or ask students to complete tasks without volume or low volume that plays aloud. Teachers no longer have to wonder how to complete state assessments or figure out rotations for how students can use their limited set of headphones. \r\n\r\nThe obvious impact of students having headphones, as I just stated, is being able to complete individualized lessons on their computers. However, a less obvious effect to our students has been an increase in independence and organization. With students having their own headphones to use daily, they are also responsible for putting them away appropriately so they can easily find them when they are needed. Teachers have taken the class donations and taught about the importance of caring for new technology and donations. Each classroom has a different system, but there is evidence in each one of how students collectively care for these new supplies in the classroom. \r\n\r\nAdditionally, your kindness allowed for use to purchase a few extras. Now, our English Language Development teacher, our Exceptional Education teacher, our interventionists, and our tutoring groups can store headphones in their rooms. Teachers are not spending time trying to help students navigate technology, and instead and get right to instruction. This has also led to fewer headphones being lost or broken since students do not need to transport them across campus for their different classes and supports. \r\n\r\nThe Howell community cannot thank you enough for your support in helping us build consistency, organization, and ease of technology for our students and their learning.","fullyFundedDate":1761404486947,"projectUrl":"project/headphones-for-our-k-5-title-i-elementar/9619609/","projectTitle":"Headphones for our K-5 Title I Elementary School","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. K","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9533178"},{"teacherId":10171835,"projectId":9619573,"letterContent":"The watercolor supplies you funded have been part of our classroom for several months now, and students truly love their time painting. We use watercolor two to three times each week, both to teach visual arts since art was cut from second grade and as a calm, quiet reset in our day. \r\n\r\nStudents quickly noticed the difference it makes. They tell me, \"Watercolor makes us calmer,\" and that it is \"fun to do and quiet time.\" Many children describe how painting lets their minds relax: \"I like watercoloring because it is fun and our brains get to be to their selves.\" Hearing them reflect this way shows me that they understand the purpose behind the project.\r\n\r\nWhat surprised me most was how quickly watercolor became a community builder. As soon as we began painting regularly, students started praising each other's work and helping one another with techniques they had mastered. They enjoy trying new strategies and talk excitedly about them: \"We do fun activities like splatter, wet on wet, and dry on wet. Different strategies let us make different things.\" One student shared, \"I colored the sunset and I was proud of it. It mixed the color around,\" and others added, \"We are proud of ourselves.\"\r\n\r\nStudents share excitement about continuing to use these supplies saying, \"The paint brushes are like magic and make ideas become real,\" and \"In the future with watercolor, I like activities.\" We have painted penguins, trees, turkeys, color pallets, and more, and many students are already planning what they want to learn next: \"I want to learn how to paint cats, and dogs, and animals.\"\r\n\r\nThank you for giving our class these opportunities. Your support continues to make a daily impact in calmness, art, teamwork, and unexpected discoveries in our second grade classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1759926346163,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-watercolor-joy-to-second-grade/9619573/","projectTitle":"Bringing Watercolor Joy to Second Grade!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Crocco","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10171835_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y907&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756482836730","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10171835"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_63098","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":245,"numTeachers":14,"percentFrplEligible":87,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":25,"percentIndigenous":5,"percentLatinx":43,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":79.4,"schoolId":63098,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Peter Howell Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Peter Howell Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/tucson-unified-school-district/peter-howell-elementary-school/63098"}
