My Project

Imagine sitting in an English classroom where everyone around you is reading, answering questions, and participating in discussions, but you are struggling to understand the words on the page. For some students, this is an everyday challenge. Reading difficulties can make even simple assignments feel overwhelming.

I want to remove these barriers by putting the power of reading directly into my students' hands.

With a SmartPens4U Rocket Pen, students can scan printed words and passages, hear them read aloud, and explore unfamiliar vocabulary. Rather than relying on a teacher or classmate, students can take a more independent and active role in their learning.

This pen will support hands-on, interactive learning experiences across my English classes, potentially benefiting 70 students throughout the school day. During reading, students can use the pen to explore challenging passages, investigate vocabulary, and gather textual evidence to answer questions about characters, conflicts, and themes.

For example, students might investigate a character's motivations by scanning important passages, listening for clues, and using their discoveries to support their interpretations. During vocabulary work, students will predict word meanings using context clues, explore unfamiliar words with the pen's decoding tools, and apply their understanding to new situations.

The pen will be available to any student who needs additional reading support, creating a more inclusive classroom where every student has the opportunity to learn independently.

My goal is to help students become confident, independent readers who can explore, question, and discover the meaning behind the words.
