My Students

I teach first grade in a school that implements The Leader in Me and also has a Gifted and Talented program. Some of my students come from neighborhoods outside of our boundaries because they have an older sibling in the Gifted and Talented program.

My students, although young, are eager to learn and are anxiously engaged when using technology.

In my classroom, we truly believe that one learns by living! Many of my students have great home lives, where they are able to learn responsibility and how to have fun. Yet, I want them to discover that learning at school is fun too. I want school to be a place where they can let go of any fears of the world because of the implications of COVID-19. I want to provide my students more opportunities in our classroom to learn academic, as well as life skills and help them realize that learning can be an adventure.

My Project

The requested resources will help my students continue their academic learning in light of COVID-19 because it will give us more access to technology. The scanners will assist my students in logging into our class's Chromebooks (while we are still in person). This helps my students quickly get into their Chromebooks and not get overwhelmed by the long requirement of their username and password now.

The iPad will also provide another source of technology for my students to use.

This would make it so that we are nearly 2 to 1 with iPads in my classroom! If we do end up having to go back online, I could also check out the iPad for one of my students to use to help support the online curriculum we would be utilizing.
