Little students are my favorite. Teaching first grade this year, I love the fact that I can spend the whole school day with the same students. It allows me to get to know each of them personally. In the short amount of time that I have known them, I've learned that several students have extreme anxiety, partly due to the pandemic. Many of my students are far behind academically as a result of the effects of Covid-19 last year. Each one of my students is yearning to grow in spite of the challenges he/she faced in the past two years.
Our class is embracing these challenges by creating our own classroom community.
In building this community, I realize how important it is for my students to learn how to be accepting of each other and learn how to cope with the pandemic. One way to minimize stress and anxiety is by giving my students noise-cancelling headphones. These headphones will help students be more engaged and less anxious about their environment as they participate in the academic programs provided for them in our google classroom.
My Project
With all the challenges facing our students, I'd like to provide them with noise-cancelling headphones in the classroom. Many students can't provide their own headphones. Other students have headphones that don't really work. Often, these students are spending more time trying to adjust their headphones than completing their online work.
First Graders need to listen up!
Noise-cancelling headphones will help them to focus on and engage more actively in the academic programs presented to them on their chrome books. Say What? Yes, these headphones will enhance the learning process and reduce the amount of stress and anxiety felt by the first graders in my classroom.
