Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My scholars are a group of diverse, driven, and hard-working individuals. At an early age, my students are learning the value of being bilingual members of their community while at the same time embracing multiculturalism. Students in my classroom are enrolled in the Dual Immersion program at our site. Dual Language Immersion offers a rigorous and enriching bilingual experience for our students. English-speaking students are immersed with Spanish speakers and together through collaboration and classroom community they support one another daily with their academic and social skills.
Our classroom is a space of learning, challenges, and overall growth.
I see how much passion and perseverance my students learn to foster in our classroom. The challenge of learning a second language brings a fresh and engaging environment of learning. They are a daily reminder to me that hard work, consistency, and determination go a long way. My students are proud of their journey towards bilingualism, and I am even more proud to continue to foster and encourage their love for learning.
My Project
"My students make me feel proud. People always say one person can't make a difference, but I have proof that these kids have made a difference."-Michelle Roosma
This year, I want my students to make awesome choices in behavior and learning throughout our distance learning school day.
I want them to be committed to doing well so they can be successful and be excellent learners. I plan to give out virtual "Virtual School Bucks" to my students when they caught doing great in our virtual classroom
Students will use their "Virtual Eagle Bucks" to trade for a book called, "De Colores". Students will have to budget their "Virtual Eagle Bucks" and spend wisely so they can participate in their chosen activities that deal with being a good reader. We will also have free areas such as virtual coloring pages, free Safetube videos of books, and other activities that students will be able to utilize to save bucks and so all students can participate. The materials requested in this project will provide my students with a fun way to teach students financial literacy and celebrate their success in this distance learning school year.
