This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the honor of working with a group of determined, bright students eager to get the best education they can despite the obstacles they face. My students come from disadvantaged backgrounds (Latinx/Black and low-income) and thus often do not have access to the same educational resources as other children.

I want to provide my students with a hands-on chemistry learning experience because THEY want it.

They come in my class asking, "Ms. are we going to experiment today?" or "Ms., when are we going to set something on fire?". They are excited about a stocked chemistry classroom!

My Project

Safety first! In order to conduct cool hands-on experiments, we need to protect our hands. Our school does not have a supply of safety gloves that are proper for chemistry labs. This past semester, I have used my own money to buy safety gloves for all my students. I am discouraged at times to do labs because of this extra barrier, and sometimes have to choose only certain groups to conduct the labs because of the lack of safety supplies.

If we have a large supply of safety gloves, more students will be able to get a true hands-on experience while being safe!

My kids will be so appreciative of your donation!
