This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are part of the largest school system in our state, and our district is severely underfunded. I typically have 20 to 30 four-year-olds in my classroom; most of my students regularly experience trauma and live in poverty. For many, school is their safest environment.
I strive to provide them with as many positive and enriching experiences as I can while they are with me.
The good news is that my students are excited about learning, open to new experiences, and ready to take on the world!
My Project
I am requesting fans and PPE for a safe learning environment! Teaching in Wisconsin in September means teaching in very hot classrooms. We do not have air conditioning. The fans that I am hoping to add to our room have been proven to lower classroom temperatures to allow little minds to focus on learning rather than the oppressive heat.
I am also asking for items to help keep my kiddos safe and healthy.
I am hoping to provide washable fabric masks, a touchless soap dispenser in my classroom, and hand washing timers to all K4 bathrooms.
The LEGO people will be used in individual play bags each day. Students are not able to share toys this year, and I am low on people in my LEGO area.
