Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are young, energetic learners who come to speech therapy each week to build the communication skills they need to express themselves, connect with others, and succeed in the classroom. Each student has unique strengths and individual speech and language goals, and I strive to create a space where they feel comfortable, supported, and excited to learn.

A welcoming, organized, and hands-on speech room can make a huge difference in helping my students stay engaged and ready to communicate.

The manipulatives included in this project will give my students opportunities to learn through play while targeting vocabulary, following directions, answering questions, sentence development, turn-taking, and other important communication skills. The cleaning and organizational supplies will help me maintain a clean and inviting therapy space, especially when materials are shared among many young students throughout the day. The new chair will also help create a more functional and comfortable workspace where I can plan individualized therapy sessions, complete documentation, prepare materials, and provide my students with the support they need.

My goal is to create a speech room that is both functional for me as their speech-language pathologist and engaging for my students. These items will allow me to spend more time focused on what matters most: providing meaningful, individualized therapy and helping my students become confident communicators. Every item in this project will contribute to a space where my students can learn, play, communicate, and grow.
