This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The thing that I love the most about my students is that they push me to reinvent the way I do things. I teach in an area where approximately two-thirds of the students are at an economic disadvantage, but they don't let that define who they are. My students have diverse backgrounds, and I love to get to know all of their stories and embrace the awesome kids that they are! My students never fail to inspire me to become a better teacher. My students are 6th-grade STEM students who are always looking for a challenge! They don't just want to learn something; they want to apply meaning to it, and they want to know that it is relevant. I want to be able to give them the opportunity to learn, have fun, and challenge themselves in the process.

Robotics is a huge part of the careers of tomorrow!

Next year, our campus will be offering robotics in 6th grade, and I am fortunate to be able to teach it. With this robotics kit, my students will be able to learn fundamentals of building, coding, and operating basic robots. As they grow in their learning, they will be able to move on to more complex systems. This will set them up to become the engineers and designers of the future!
