Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are taking college-prep engineering courses in and have just won the first-ever Texas UIL State Robotics Championship as part of an alliance in the FIRST Division.

They achieved against long odds in an environment short on tools and lacking an engineering shop.

But these students have attitudes long on positive and are full of dedicated work ethic, spirited enthusiasm, with true, selfless teamwork and servant leadership, and the gracious professionalism that marks the best winning teams across the world.

My Project

Our school's young robotics team has achieved extraordinary success in our 4 short years, and is already graduating motivated, college-bound STEM majors into top universities with experience leading and collaborating on innovative teams, completing competitive projects under high-pressure deadlines, competing in nationally and internationally competitive environments, and communicating their work in professional settings.

We are currently expanding our robotics program to add more teams to allow more students the same opportunities to be exposed to and gain real-world STEM experience with designing, programming, building, marketing, community outreach, fund raising, and all the aspects required to be successful in the futures.

In order to accommodate our growth and the new teams we are fielding with the dozens more students now on our team, we need additional and a more complete set of tools and equipment to outfit our shop. The basics like pliers, screwdrivers, a rolling mobile work center, and toolboxes, as well as power tools are needed, and important tools like a welder will help us be more competitive and allow us to teach our students important other skills.
