My Project

Our RMS One Book, One School Program is a building-wide shared reading time when every teacher reads the selected book aloud and engages students in guided activities and discussions about the book.

The program was started to immerse students & staff in literature-rich reading discussions, provide opportunities for our students to discover the enjoyment in reading, enhance their reading skills, and build a positive middle school community.

We believe this building-wide reading time has had a positive influence on our school’s culture and has been powerful in showing students how they can connect with each other and literature.

We would like to kick off the 2024-2025 school year with our OBOS program reading The Canyon's Edge, by Dusti Bowling. As a culminating activity, our students will also have a chance to meet the author through a school visit we are planning with her in October! Students will attend her school presentation, get her autograph, have an opportunity to win free copies of her books, or eat lunch with her! To make all of this possible we need help purchasing enough copies of the book for teachers to read it aloud to their groups.
