My Students

My 4th grade students are absolutely incredible! We live in a rural area of North Carolina. My students have a wide range of diverse backgrounds.

My students are curious, adventurous, compassionate, and cheerful and will accept any challenge given to them.

These boys and girls will do amazing things in life.

They are curious about so many different things and are not afraid to ask! I do my best to teach them to be proud of who they are and to not be afraid to try new things!

My Project

My 4th graders are beginning to read to learn, rather than learn to read. Reading is the most important skills they will develop at this age that will support them as life long learners. I am requesting a class set of "Esperanza Rising" and other curricular materials to encourage this skill.

With a book in their hand, my students will share an experience of resilience and love for family as they rise with Esperanza.

My students will learn, through Esperanza, the fortitude of a migrant family. Many of my students will be able to relate to this experience, as Hurricane Florence resulted in several of my students being displaced.
