My Students

Our school is K-8 in a 100% free lunch, high poverty, culturally diverse neighborhood. Our kids come to school without supplies, school uniforms, they go home with weekend food bags, and our families struggle. We don’t have fancy PTA fundraisers to raise money because our families can’t afford it. But these kids are AMAZING!! They work hard to rise above their circumstances and to be kind.

My Project

We often have students who have accidents at school for a variety of reasons. Although we have a clothing closet onsite, we are often completely out of certain sizes, especially kindergarten/first grade. If we have to call home for clothing students are stuck waiting in soiled clothes until their family arrives which can sometimes be an hour due to transportation issues for the family. We are trying to restock the sizes we are out of so we can help get kids back to the classroom as quickly as possible while also maintaining their dignity.
