My Students

Students in the middle school classes I teach know that it's dangerous to go alone. That's why I arm their branships with the power of critical thinking and inquiry!

Student's love their time spent exploring the galaxy, and you can help create an even more immersive environment for students during their research gameplay in Veritas.

Now in their fourth iteration, the search skills lessons I teach are fun, challenging, and engaging - turning research and information literacy instruction into something students are excited to work on!

My Project

I teach research and information literacy skills in the middle grades, and I found that students were not engaging with the process as much as they needed to in order to develop a deep understanding of inquiry. I couldn't expect 6th graders to love research as I do, but they had to be invested enough in the process to learn how to find and evaluate information successfully. So I turned it into a game!

This grant will encourage positive classroom behavior, foster engagement with challenging content, and demonstrate the joy of learning.

Research takes place within the Veritas Galaxy, an imaginary world where students are able to explore intellectual curiosity, develop critical thinking skills, and defeat the Luddites in their attempt to steal the galaxy's knowledge.
