Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The young learners in my classroom are excited and ready to learn each day. I teach in a Kindergarten classroom in urban Massachusetts. My class is made up of predominantly students of color, including children with special needs and English Language Learners who speak another language at home.
They are a wonderfully fun and enthusiastic bunch that despite challenges are excited to learn and grow.
Kindergarten is often the first school experience for many of my students and I am honored to be a part of their foundation to a lifetime of learning.
My Project
Part of any new school year is planning for what students will need to be successful. This year is unlike any other, and with so many possibilities, it can be hard to plan!
No matter what we face this year, my students deserve resources to support both learning at home and in school.
For those students staying remote, laptop desks will provide a comfortable alternative and some flexible seating during a long day of virtual learning! For students coming to school, they need access to their own supplies which will be kept in pencil cases and storage bins. The yoga mats and desks provide the option for social distancing and flexible seating during school. The digital thermometer will be crucial for temperature checks, and the air purifier helps to ensure a safe teaching and learning environment for everyone.
All of these materials have been researched for their use and practicality in the classroom. I appreciate you considering donating to this project!
