My classroom is full of learning every day! The kids (and the teacher) love reading about adventures and information.
My class is comprised of twenty students with diverse backgrounds.
They show a great deal of enthusiasm for learning, which is so encouraging! They are particularly interested in becoming proficient readers. Excitement for learning is exhibited daily, as is their support for their peers. I have several students who are English Language Learners as well as having most who are considered economically disadvantaged.
The classroom is a place for them to grow and become confident in all they can do. First grade is special indeed!
My Project
A relaxed and inviting reading area would offer all my students an environment to encourage reading for fun! I have seen how students' lives are changed when they learn to read - especially when they realize they have become independent readers! Creating a cozy center, with a sofa and comfy pillows, to enjoy reading makes it even more special.
What a wonderful addition this relaxing area would be to our classroom as we watch students' confidence growing, and watch them enjoying reading!
I hope that this relaxing reading center provides my students with experiences that will help them grow even more! Reading is such a gift ~ and I am privileged to watch as this “magic” happens with my first graders!
