Many of our young learners are just beginning their reading journeys, and the Pete the Cat books are the perfect tools to help them build early literacy skills. These stories introduce concepts such as sequencing, predicting what will happen next, recognizing patterns, identifying feelings, and connecting text to illustrations. With repetitive phrases and engaging storylines, Pete the Cat also helps students develop phonological awareness and confidence as they join in on familiar refrains. \r\n\r\nYour generous gifts allow us to nurture these foundational skills in a fun, meaningful way. In our classroom, reading is active, interactive, and joyful. Students explore books during morning centers, and listen to stories during group time. Story time often ends with students acting out books. This type of play-based reading helps them strengthen comprehension, vocabulary, and social-emotional learning all at once. This learning can now extend into their homes as they read their new Pete the Cat books. \r\n\r\nThe excitement and confidence these materials have sparked are heartwarming to see. Your generosity has given our students more than books and a plushie—you've given them a love of reading that will continue to grow all year long.","fullyFundedDate":1764730471396,"projectUrl":"project/christmas-gifts-for-preschoolers/9931603/","projectTitle":"Christmas Gifts for Preschoolers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Parker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4792732_orig.jpg?crop=1320,1320,x112,y76&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751457351334","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-maryparker"},{"teacherId":9622482,"projectId":9705258,"letterContent":"We are so grateful for your support in helping us get these black backdrops for our Fall Performance. I can't keep the Dog Man books on the shelves because my students have become obsessed with them! The whiteboards have become a daily necessity, especially for math lessons to solve problems and expressing their ideas. The new cushion seats in our comfortable reading nook have immediately turned into a popular area. My students were so excited the first time they saw the shelves stocked with snacks and fun items—they could hardly wait to start earning and spending their classroom currency. It immediately gave them something meaningful to work toward, and their faces lit up with pride when they got to \"shop\" for the very first time.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the store as part of our classroom economy system. Students earn money for positive behavior, responsibility, and academic effort, and then decide how to save or spend it. Just this past week, one student proudly saved up for several days to purchase a snack he had his eye on—he told me it felt \"just like a real store.\" That sense of accomplishment is exactly what I hoped this project would create.\r\n\r\nThe next step is building on these lessons by connecting our store to math skills. Students are budgeting, and comparing costs—real-life applications that make learning fun and memorable.\r\n\r\nYour gift didn't just provide snacks and prizes—it created excitement, motivation, and a way for my students to see how hard work pays off.
