My students will have more opportunities to listen to quality literature and favorite stories through the use of the listening center. Over the years I have collected many materials to use in the listening center that with extend the learning of our themes in first grade (folk tales; weather, etc.) Listening to others read, allows additional reinforcement of vocabulary and comprehension skills. Learning to read begins with hearing others read to you, which is exactly what happens in the listening center! We all love to hear a good story, and this listening center will help the students grow, progress, and become more confident with reading!
