Reinventing the Classroom

My students need 10 Google cardboard glasses for viewing and one 360 camera to create their own classroom experiences and view how others' see the world.

My Students

My school is made up of a diverse population of students that are from all over the world and from different walks of life. Unfortunately a lot of them need a little more effort and a different approach to education.

We are trying to change the face of how modern education looks in our classroom.

It is time for the "Sage on the stage model" to disappear. My students ask for and desire interactive learning they can truly experience through "authentic learning". Why give them lectures on topics when they can truly be immersed.

My Project

I am requesting google cardboard glasses and a 360 camera so students can immerse themselves in environments that are discussed in class. Through the use of google expedition and other such apps students can be in the driver's seat as they experience the world around them. Too often in a class students are shown topics with little real world context.

Authentic learning comes from experiences and the technology that is available today can guide this.

My students will have "first" hand accounts of places they may never see through other people's' eyes. May it be going to the top of Everest to look at mountain building or something as simple as a video they shoot of a local waterway. My students will have the opportunity to see everything that the scientific world has to offer.
