There are 25 scholars working hard in our classroom. We have the distinct honor of being the first public elementary school in North America. The classroom is rich in culture, languages, and life experiences as we have an extremely diverse student population.
We are working tirelessly to become voracious readers, stronger mathematicians, problem solvers, and engaged citizens.
We are learning everything about Massachusett's history, the wonders of multiplication and division, reading about the struggles in obtaining books around the world, and writing across the genres.
Technology in our classroom has truly transformed the teaching and learning that occurs each day. Students are able to participate by listening to a book we are sharing as a class and still have discussions with their peers. Students who struggle to get their ideas on paper are able to utilize text-to-speech features that allow me to take a peek inside their thoughts.
My Project
There is a certain glow a class has when they are using new supplies. It's similar to that fresh smell of a new car or the satisfaction of opening up a book for the very first time. These renewed and refreshed supplies will help give our classroom the little boost it needs right now especially in terms of the art supplies. While we take care of our materials, markers and crayons get dull and dried up with use. These students are using markers and crayons from the same box as my first class of students.
The document camera will allow us to look and analyze student work or texts in the moment which promotes rich class discussions.
We love to share our learning with one another whether it is our favorite mistake in math or the sticky notes we record during close reading. Students in Room 301 know that we learn from everyone and not just our teacher.
