Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

What I love most about my students is how naturally creative they are, even when they don’t yet have the tools or vocabulary to fully express their ideas. They are curious, energetic problem-solvers who light up when they are given the chance to create something with their own hands. In the art room, many students discover confidence they don’t always feel in other settings, and I love watching them take risks, try new techniques, and surprise themselves with what they can do.

Refreshing our basic art supplies will have a direct impact on both student engagement and learning.

Items like construction paper, drawing tools, scissors, glue, and paint are the foundation of every lesson, and having high-quality, reliable materials ensures that students can focus on creativity rather than struggling with dried-out markers, thin paper, or broken tools. With updated supplies, students will be able to more successfully explore core skills such as cutting, layering, color mixing, and composition. These materials also support more independence, allowing students to work more efficiently and confidently.

Most importantly, refreshed supplies help create an art environment where every student can fully participate and feel successful. When students have access to consistent, quality materials, they are more willing to take creative risks and invest in their work. This project will allow them to continue building foundational art skills while also experiencing the joy of making meaningful, finished artwork they can be proud of.
