Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I funded school in a city school district. In our public city school, many scholars are diverse, multiple language learners, and at-risk readers. Currently, the entire school population receives free breakfast and lunch. Many scholars are also from low-income households. However, they are warm, loving, and continually searching for ways to grow and become better each day. I am honored to teach such wonderful children.

I enjoy providing scholars a multitude of experiences to connect the curriculum and enhance their learning while promoting equitable access and allowing them to be creative and stimulate their curiosity.

My scholars are eager to learn, excel, and connect the curriculum in the school library media center. As the head of all the school librarians, I am able to reach multiple students and have a lasting effect on learning outcomes. I teach students new technology platforms, as well as teach special Makey Makey classes. I have been teaching for 20 years, and I take a great deal of pride in my work. I strive to make learning fun and engaging as I have been focusing on transdisciplinary learning to help scholars have authentic and powerful learning.

My Project

Studies indicate that reflection is an important part of growth. The requested books will be used in the library for students to read, write and reflect in. The use of these books will promote opportunities to get in touch with innermost thoughts. Kids can read and can write about what worked and what would change in theirs. They can read and write about things that bother or annoy them. Reading, writing, and journaling are important to promote critical thinking and problem solving so let's get to reading and writing.

Creating a reflective and harmonious environment will help shine little rays of happiness into the school library learning commons and foster growth.

The books can help foster social and emotional clarity and mental wellness. Their own books will help them focus on thoughts and ideas. Thank you for your consideration, support, and time. When you can about public schools, you care about the future.
