This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The Roaring Red Ram Band at WHS is 150 students strong and rising. We welcome every student willing to work hard — no experience required — and that open door has carried us to the H-E-B Thanksgiving Parade, UIL competition, and even an invitation to perform at the 2025 Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.

But many of our players are making music on worn-out reeds, aging mouthpieces, and ligatures held together by hope.

Quality equipment changes how a student sounds — and how they feel about themselves when they play.

This project puts professional-grade reeds, mouthpieces, ligatures, tuners, and metronomes into the hands of every section: clarinets, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones, and bass clarinet. The tuners and metronomes go home with students so they can practice in tune and in time, not just in the band hall. The reeds and mouthpieces give our players the clear, confident tone that makes a 5A band sound like one.

Many of our students couldn't afford gear like this on their own. As our school climbs toward an "A" rating, your support tells these kids that their music — and their future — is worth investing in. Help us give Ram Nation the tools to keep rising.
