Recovery Time for Children

Help me give my students a soft place to go and recover from an illness or an injury while at school. A soft recovery couch will be perfect! My students need a recovery couch.

My Students

I am fortunate to be the school nurse to 320 students from three year olds all the way through 5th grade. Approximately 25% of these students are special needs students. Students are in and out of my clinic all day with complaints from "my big toe hurts" to children with serious seizure activity going on.

Sometimes during the day, students just need a place to go where it is quiet, away from others and where they'll get some TLC.

My clinic is a perfect place for this.

Because we are a title I school, many of our students do not get the health care needed at home, nor do they go see a doctor when it is needed.

My Project

There are several times a child who is sick has to wait for their parents to get off work or make other plans to pick them up. When a child runs a fever of 101 or more, they need a place to rest until someone can pick them up.

You never know what a child has gone through at home or whether or not they got enough sleep to be efficient at school.

A nice place to rest where it's quiet and calm is needed in all clinics. A recovery couch is what my children need.

Perhaps a child has had a seizure and just needs a place to recover fully from the excessive activity their brain has just been through. A quiet clinic with a soft lounge would be the perfect place for them.
