My students are extremely eager to learn and engage in all types of musical activities. They are hard-working kids who I want to help succeed through music. There are over 15 languages spoken in all of the music classes I teach, but music has served as a common ground for all of the students to be rock stars!
My students are K-5th graders who are part of an inner-city school district where funding is hard to come by.
At least 60% of the school is below the poverty line, but that doesn't stop them. Our school is one of the top-rated schools in the city and the students don't let financial difficulty stop them from learning! Having an abundance of resources at my disposal will allow me to help further their education and give them the chance to explore self-expression.
My Project
A midi keyboard will allow me to create rehearsal tracks for my students in all areas of their learning. My students love to work hard and recording on a normal piano creates a lot of background noise. A midi keyboard will make electronic recordings that are clean and free from extra noise. These recordings will be used to help students practice their choir music, recorder music, and ukulele music. Having access to our own midi keyboard will allow me to make recordings whenever we need and make adjustments to recordings without having to re-record the entire thing. Having the ability to slow down and speed up recordings as well as change the pitch due to the electronic recording will give me the ability to differentiate learning for my students.
