Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
From the first day I met my students, you can see the glow of curiosity in their eyes and their desire to learn. Their eagerness and enthusiasm continues to grow as they begin to realize their potential and their accomplishments in so little time. Many of my students did not attend preschool and have not been exposed to simple English language vocabulary. Their desire to learn the language is evident as they try to communicate basic needs and share personal experiences with delight.
Our school has focused on providing teachers with professional development that will help guide students with best instructional practices.
However, this causes our budget to be limited and very difficult to fulfill our classroom with certain materials. We respectfully turn to our community to help us fill the void and request their help in providing some of the materials to foster our little learners
My Project
Play is a key component in a child's development. From language building, problem solving skills, collaboration among peers, and social-emotional skills. Purposeful play deepens and fosters a child's learning.
Language acquisition is an essential part of a kindergarten curriculum.
Having a kitchen and its tools, will encourage students to interact with their peers, helping them practice and cultivate rich language experiences and promote thinking skills.
Just envision as our little learners become chefs and they prepare a most delicious lunch for their customers or they become mommies and daddies preparing dinner for their love ones. This role playing has now become meaningful play that will help acquire language and social skills.
As language develops, so does their confidence, their writing skills, and their reading skills.
