Many of our students live in poverty. 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch. They come to school looking for a safe place to feel welcome and respected.
Our school uses a program called Responsive Classroom that teaches students to have empathy, to include anyone that might feel left out, and to treat others with care.
Despite their hardships, our students have a love of learning, and are always looking to better themselves. We strive to look for the awesome!
My Project
Recess is not only a time my students crave, it is also a time to release energy and take a break from all the stress of sitting still and completing work all day. The quality of my students' work and behavior visibly improves when they have 20 minutes or more of recess each day.
The materials I've requested will provide my students the opportunity to play, work together, and create new games.
Without these materials, my students often get frustrated or disputes will arise over the little things we do have. I know I will see more sharing, smiles, and activity will the fulfillment of this project!
