My Students

I teach fifth grade reading in one of the best rural schools in Oklahoma! My students are a diverse group with varied levels. Our classroom is a space where students enjoy coming to learn, but in a non-traditional way. We are a Title I school with the majority of our students receiving free lunches. These kids have the biggest hearts you'll ever come across.

Every single one of my students has integrity, compassion, and a positive attitude.

They are truly amazing people. My school is wonderfully supportive of the project-based learning that we do in our classroom. I couldn't ask for a better environment for these students. We are truly a community!

My Project

We have an abundance of wonderful books in our classroom, but we need a way to organize them! Having a book storage unit available for my students will be beneficial because they can access the storage at any time. They will be able to pick a book to read during book clubs, silent reading, or even to read in their free time.

I have a generous supply of books that my parents can check out and take home, and this would provide a shelf to help them find their favorites easily!

Families will know that they are available whenever they need it. This will increase the reading at home.

The books will be in separate bins for each book club set and will make it enticing for them to choose their next selection.

The benefit of having this storage is to give my students the independence and responsibility of taking care of books and being able to clearly see the many choices that they have to read! The more visually appealing the books are, the more they read! A win-win for everyone!
