My Students
I am currently teaching in an urban school district in Massachusetts. All of my students come from low-income families and 100% of them receive free school lunch. During the past year, there have been several cuts to my district's budget which is impacting the quality of instruction given to my students.
This year I am teaching 25 vibrant students with learning disabilities.
Unfortunately, my students' require materials that my school can't provide at the moment. Many of these materials will aid in them being able to sustain attention and provide the accommodations they need to be successful this academic year.
My Project
These materials I am requesting will assist my students to become better readers. I am requesting new and engaging reading materials to help peak their interest and inspire an innate love of literature.
The materials and supplies within this project will help increase my students reading fluency and comprehension.
Specifically, the instant reading and writing centers will provide differentiated lesson to reinforce reading strategies. The listening center will allow students to enjoy hearing a story and learn new vocabulary. Lastly, the classroom library set (with mobile cart) will allow students to choose books based on their reading level. The timer will allow students to keep track of time. The wobble seat cushions will be offered to students to they can work comfortably
