My Students

The ability to read is a skill comes naturally for many students on the first grade level. However, this group of learners has had difficulty grasping and moving forward on levels of reading. Covid-19 has added widened the learning curve. This difficulty has not taken from my students aspiration and eagerness to work hard and learn various strategies required to perform on grade level.

Dr. Seuss quoted, "the more you read, the more you grow, the more you grow, the more place you'll go".

This is my desire for every learner that walks through my room.

My Project

As a result of Covid-19 restrictions and virtual learning, this year is the first year many of my students have set foot in the classroom. The literacy materials requested will benefit strengthening alphabet knowledge and phonemic awareness. The use of pocket charts will allow students to work independently and collaboratively with the necessary skills to become better readers with the use of practicing with foundational phonic activities. in addition, those students that have not mastered alphabet knowledge will be provided with alphabet workstations to identify all of the letters of the alphabet which is a pre-reading skill. The classroom management pocket chart will assist students with identifying the rotation schedule to reduce the time me as the teacher will have to direct students to their designated workstations.
