We use the new resources throughout the school day to support students during small-group instruction, independent work, and times when they may need a little extra support to stay engaged. One of my favorite moments was seeing how excited the students were when they first saw everything that had been provided for them. They immediately wanted to know when they could begin using the materials, and it was rewarding to see them understand that people outside of our classroom cared about their success.\r\nThe next step is to continue using these resources to build students' independence, stamina, and confidence during instruction. Many of my students benefit from additional structure and support, so having these materials available allows me to better meet their individual needs while keeping them engaged in grade-level learning. As we move forward, I plan to continue working on academic skills as well as focus, self-regulation, and completing tasks more independently. While I work with students individually on Reading by Design mastery checks, other students are able to use the iPad and headphones to practice phonics, decoding, fluency, comprehension, and other reading skills at their own pace. It has also given them another way to hear words and text modeled correctly, which is especially helpful for students who need repeated practice.\r\nThe students are most excited about being able to use the iPad during reading time because it makes practice feel more interactive and less like another worksheet. They enjoy putting on the headphones, working through the activities, and being able to complete something on their own. I have especially noticed that students who sometimes need more encouragement with reading are more willing to participate when technology is part of the station. Since receiving the resources, we have incorporated snacks into our classroom in a way that supports both learning and community. During independent work, students are able to have a snack when needed so they can remain focused on their assignments. We have also used snack time as an opportunity to build relationships, practice responsibility, and encourage students to take care of themselves while respecting the needs of others. During one recent classroom activity, students were working on a challenging lesson that required them to collaborate, problem solve, and stay focused for an extended period of time. Having snacks available gave students a chance to recharge without interrupting the flow of the lesson. I watched students encourage one another, share positive comments, and return to their work with renewed energy. It was a small classroom moment, but it reminded me how important it is to support the whole child.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, my students are continuing to work toward their academic goals and build the skills they need to become confident, independent learners. Our next steps include continuing our current lessons, completing classroom projects, and applying the skills we have been practicing to new challenges. I want my students to understand that learning is a process and that perseverance matters, especially when something feels difficult at first. The snacks will continue to be a helpful resource as we work through these lessons and projects. They provide students with an opportunity to pause, refuel, and return to learning with greater focus.
