My Students

New books entice middle school readers! The Sequoyah Award List provides the best picks for Oklahoma students.

My students are a diverse mix of cultures in a lower economic urban area.

Many of our students do not have books in their homes, nor are they always able to access the public library system. It is vital that the school library is able to keep up with current literature for these children. Library funds are minimal this school year.

My Project

As in any school, the range of reading levels is spread over many grade levels. Our library provides quality literature for struggling readers and advanced readers, as well as the reluctant reader. Having a new book placed in a student's hands is a real plus for inspiring reading.

With the current economic situation, every penny is precious.

When dollars are needed everywhere, the library budget is cut. The library must raise its own funds for essentials. There is simply no money for new library books at our school.
