Students know exactly where their materials go now, and it has cut down on lost papers and off-task time. The pre-sharpened pencils have been a lifesaver—students can grab what they need quickly and stay focused instead of waiting for the sharpener. The plastic rulers were immediately put to use during our recent measurement and modeling activity, where students had to design and sketch energy flow models. Having enough rulers for every student made the project run smoothly.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was seeing students crowd around our new Boho and Groovy Affirmation Stations. They took turns reading the positive messages out loud, picking the ones that fit how they felt that day. A few even asked to take pictures of their favorite affirmations to keep on their phones. Our students were very happy to see fresh slide grease, valve oil, and rotor oil for this!\r\n\r\nAlso in this project were shatter-proof locker mirrors. This year, we provided these to our Beginning Band students to keep in their Band Binder. We use these mirrors in the first quarter of the school year each day. Students use the mirror on their music stand to watch themselves and make sure that they are playing with their correct embouchure. We finally have enough swabs for every flute and reeds for everyone!\r\n\r\nMy Beginner Clarinet class especially loved getting to \"upgrade\" their clarinet by adding a cushion to their thumb rest. This new tool is very supportive for their young hands to hold the clarinet with proper right-hand posture. They ooo'd and ahh'd over it! It was a fun and motivating element to our Beginner Clarinet class.
