My students are in an 'at-risk' school in Las Vegas, Nevada, with one of the highest homeless, single parent and diverse background populations in the district. They have many different life events that affect them both positively and negatively when they come into my classroom.
Even with so many outside forces against them, my students want to learn.
When they come into my classroom they know that what I am going to teach them can help them in their future. My students prove every day that no matter what life throws at you, you have the power to overcome.
Our health classroom currently has two basic ready-or-not tots! While these tots are still great practice for my students, the quick "stop crying" button is much easier to quiet the baby than it would be in real life.
I am hoping to purchase two intermediate control boxes to replace the two basic boxes that are currently in the tots!
These intermediate control boxes will require much more effort on my student's part. These boxes will require students to take a real amount of time to care for the tots by using student keys to get the tot to stop crying. They will also provide me with data to see how well the students did at caring for the tots.
