Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My second graders have 2nd grade minds. They love to play and interact with their friends. I am so excited that this year we have a Smart Board in our classroom. This interactive white board allows the children to interact with their learning, and thus keep them attentive and motivated.
My second graders come from varied backgrounds.
Many do not have a computer at home. School provides basic needs for many of my students. Nevertheless, these children are so eager to learn. Everyday when I look at them, I just want to be able to do more and give them more! When I teach using the Smart Board, I know that I'm teaching in a way that is appropriate for 2nd graders to learn!
My Project
I have taken many Smart Board classes and created countless lessons. The children feel like they're playing, not learning! There is a problem though!!! The Smart Board is six feet tall. Most of my students are too short to reach much of the board. I am afraid to put a step stool in front, for fear that they will fall into the board. The smaller students are unable to feel successful in these interactive lessons because they can't reach. They always need a "big kid" to help them. Being short myself, I feel their pain! The last thing I want to do is make them feel bad. At one of my classes, I learned that there is a solution! A wireless slate called an AirLiner would allow EVERY child to participate in the interactive lesson. It looks kind of like a laptop, but has the same screen showing as the Smart Board. I can bring the AirLiner to students, where they can reach anything on the screen and participate, no matter how tall they are!
An AirLiner wireless slate would allow EVERY child to participate in the interactive lesson.
Having an Airliner would no doubt enable each and every child in my class to "take off" with their learning! It would be used day after day, lesson after lesson...year after year! Learning would occur the way it should for a second grader...in a fun, interactive way...and with no bad feeling because you're short
