My students are curious, caring, and eager to learn! I teach in a Title I school in Oakland and my class consists of upcoming readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, changemakers, and critical thinkers. While we start this year back in-person, I feel a sense of collaboration with my students and their families. I see my students' caretakers as my co-teachers and we both have our students' best in mind during this time.
Everyday, my students want to share new things they learned from their favorite books or something they learned from others.
I can tell that they enjoy being at school because they ask questions, collaborate, and want to share what they know!
My Project
These books will be used to supplement out language arts units. Students will have the opportunity to read books similar to our anchor texts which are used to model in a whole class setting. The variety of texts accessible to my students will help them unpack the themes we work on throughout the school year.
Our themes in third grade include: Overcoming Learning Challenges, Adaptations and the Wide World of Frogs, Exploring Literary Classics, and Water Around the World.
My students are enthusiastic about finding books that are connected to our unit. They constantly want to share their own discoveries with each other.
