Reading With Tonie

Help me give my students a fun, screen-free read-aloud station with a Toniebox and Creative Tonie, so I can record my own read-aloud stories for students to listen to.

My Project

Story time is one of the most loved parts of our day in first grade, and this project will help us create a new screen-free read-aloud station in our classroom. With the addition of a Toniebox, headphones, and a variety of Tonie characters, my students will have a special listening center where stories come to life in a fun and engaging way.

The Toniebox is designed to be simple and interactive for young learners.

Students can place a Tonie character on top of the box to instantly begin listening to a story. This hands-on design makes it easy for first graders to use independently while still feeling excited about the experience. Using headphones will allow students to fully immerse themselves in the story while the rest of the class continues working during literacy centers.

One of the most meaningful parts of this listening station will be the Creative Tonie. This special character allows me to record my own read-alouds for students to listen to during independent reading time. Hearing stories read in a familiar voice helps students feel supported while also modeling fluent reading. Students can follow along with the book, strengthening their comprehension and confidence as readers.

The listening station will become part of our literacy rotations, giving students the opportunity to revisit favorite stories and explore new ones. Many of my students love being read to, and this station will allow them to experience the joy of story time even when I am working with small groups.

By creating this read-aloud station with the Toniebox, headphones, and Tonie characters, we are building a space where imagination, independence, and a love for reading can continue to grow.
