Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Each year my students read the novel "Because of Mr. Terupt". The book addresses many different topics such as students with disabilities, bullying, coming together as a class, and celebrating differences.

My students absolutely fall in love with this story.

I was able to get my class set funded 2 years ago via Donors Choose. My fellow 5th-grade team would also love to have their own class set so that our entire 5th grade can participate in a novel study surrounding this book.

If this project gets funded it will ensure that for years to come, we have a novel that the whole grade level can read with students. One of my favorite aspects of this book in particular is that it follows a 5th-grade class. The students feel so invested because they see themselves represented in these characters. Thank you for your consideration in helping our team!
