Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My seventh graders are from diverse backgrounds. They are opinionated, driven, and brilliant.
My students attend a Title One school where 95% of students are on free or reduced price lunch.
We are an urban school located in one of our city's oldest neighborhoods. We offer a humanities-based program throughout the school and we are working hard on increasing our reading comprehension and writing skills.
My Project
I plan to use the donated incentives as motivation for students who are in need of reading remediation as well as those that are on or above grade level.
Students will be assigned weekly reading lessons and will be incentivized based on their time on task and performance.
Those students with both the required time on task and percent of accuracy will be rewarded for their hard work.
Additionally, I would like to have PPE to help keep students safe as they are learning and celebrating their successes in the classroom.
