This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Reading brings powers to student's lives. I teach second grade students and help them gain grade level reading skills. The majority of my students receive reading intervention. Students qualify for intervention when they read significantly below grade level. Articulating gestures properly is an imperative part of the reading intervention process.

Mirrors greatly assist students in producing the correct gestures with their mouths to produce the correct sounds.

Students from multilingual homes will especially benefit from using them. These mirrors will help our students in their journey to becoming skilled readers.

In this project, I also have a variety of snacks, sanitizing/cleaning items, and organization items. Students need snacks during the day to give them energy and help their bodies be ready to learn. I am excited to be able to offer them healthy snacks. I also need sanitizing/cleaning items to clean up after my students and ensure that my classroom is a space place to learn. I try to set an example to my students of keeping a clean area. The organization items help me create a structured place for my students to use everyday. If the classroom is organized, it is easier for learning to be the focus.
